ALE ORTIZ

WRITER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR

SHORT BLURB

HELLO, ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF.

I make films that move people, create sounds that make noise, design visual thingies that don’t really move but still move people, develop digital stuff for all the internets and the interwebs, even activations and guerrilla type of stunts. I have expertise at blowing people's minds with things they were not thinking about, or cared for at all. It works most of the time. I also enjoy pushing creative teams to develop and nurture their seedling ideas into full grown majestic sequoias of creativity and effectiveness. I do all these things,

and much more, see below.

THE WORK

THE WORK

LONG BLURB

A SHORT BLURB ABOUT ME
& DISCOVERING CREATIVITY

I discovered kindergarten at 4.

Promptly I did a stinky in my pants in front of my kindergarten crush.

Not my best day, also not my worst.

She didn’t notice.

But that day I discovered good acting.

And creativity.

I've acted professionally ever since.

I was in Aladdin.

No, I was not the parrot.

But I discovered my love for animals by 6.

And through theater I discovered other visual arts.

I studied ALL the visual arts in a fancy arts High School.

Then I discovered university at 16.

I backstabbed my art teachers by choosing Veterinary Medicine.

And then backstabbed myself by choosing Kansas State.

I clipped elephant toenails at The Wichita Zoo.

I performed CPR on monkeys at The Wichita Zoo.

I drew blood from dolphins at The Wichita Zoo.

And started a student folkloric dance group.

Not at The Wichita Zoo.

For some still unknown reason, I chose Minnesota for graduate Veterinary Medical School.

There I discovered very expensive tuition.

I also discovered how to pay for that very expensive tuition.

By drawing blood from children.

As a pediatric phlebotomist, not a pediatric vampire.

Worth noting, kids are much easier to bleed than dolphins.

I quickly discovered a love for pediatric medicine.

So I switched schools, from Vet to Med.

As you can see, I also discovered plot twists and tangents.

Here's a really random one:

I discovered percussion in Minneapolis.

I played percussion for several bands.

For several years.

Then I met Prince.

Yes Ƭ̵̬̊.

Drew blood from Prince's kid.

I think I signed an NDA about that, so shush.

I danced professionally for Prince.

Yes Ƭ̵̬̊.

Seriously. Shush.

I also danced, not professionally, with an Art Buyer from Fallon McElligott

at Prince's Minneapolis night club, Glam Slam.

I suddenly discovered advertising.

I went to Miami Ad School for Creativity.

I paid for that school by drawing blood from the elderly.

Much harder than dolphins.

One of them punched me on the nose while poking him.

Won many golden stickers for my student ads.

Some were silver.

Leo Burnett Chicago hired me.

Leo Burnett Prague hired me.

Discovered Czech beer.

Did many ads for Czech beer.

Discovered Austrian wife.

Did many things for Austrian wife.

Founded a 16-member salsa orchestra.

Opened for Buena Vista Social Club.

Yes, in Prague.

Founded a theater company.

Yes, in Prague.

Directed a stage version of Reservoir Dogs.

Without permission from Quentin.

I discovered lawsuits.

I returned to America.

Deutsch hired me.

TBWA\Chiat\Day hired me.

McCann hired me.

Campbell Ewald hired me.

I discovered many job titles.

AD. CW. ACD. CD. ECD. VP.

Won many golden stickers for my professional ads.

Some were silver.

And in the acting, dancing, painting, performing, blood-drawing, art-directing, copywriting process, I discovered that creativity in any shape or form is part of who I am.

Let's discover and create together.
